Hendyrpeg is more likely. Hen = Old; Tyrpeg = Turnpike (the reason
why the
turns into a d is a complication of Welsh grammar). Turnpike Trusts
were
companies who levied tolls for the upkeep of roads, so Hen Dyrpeg
would
either have been a former toll house or built on the site of an old toll
house.
