Christine, In your research of Capel Rehoboth, Corris, would you let me know
should you come across any reference to its beginnings.
In the "Strange Story of Sion Chapel, Bryneglwys" it records on page 87 that
a Jane Evans nee Jones was one of five present at the first chapel meeting
in Corris in 1790. Jane married David Evans of Talyllyn on the 27 April
1764. He is described as 'of this parish'. She was one of 6 children (five
daughters and one son) of the Plas Aberllefenni. To my knowledge they only
had two children, Jane Jones 1773 and David Evans 1771.
I do not know if the church you are interested in, is the one referred to in
connection with Jane, but if it is not, at least I will know not to research
that particular chapel.
Over the last 20 or so years I have tried to delve into this branch of the
family, but end up putting it into the 'too hard' basket.
I have a note written by a great uncle that Jane's brother, "David Evans had
a son also called David Evans who was a shopkeeper at Blaenau Ffestiniog.
This person had a son called Samuel Evans who was a bank clerk at Nefyn".
Many thanks Jane McIntosh

Rehoboth, Corris where
my gt, gt grandparents were married I learnt that the present chapel
was a
replacement for the
original that was destroyed by a flood in the early 1900's.
