A subject which comes up occasionally on the Merioneth and Gwynedd lists is Sydney Curnow
Vosper's iconic painting Salem. Many of us are related to /descended from or
interested in the characters who sat for the painting.
Those who live in or will be visiting north west Wales over the summer might be interested
to know that is currently on loan to the Gwynedd Museum and Art gallery, Bangor and will
be on display there from 29 June to 12 October.
Because the main character, Siân Ty'n y Fawnog was my great great Grandfather's
sister in law copies of the picture have been always been displayed on family member's
walls - I don't remember a time when I was not aware of the painting. So I am quite
excited about having the opportunity to see the original for the first time.
Further details about the exhibition and a contact e-mail address can be found on Gwynedd
