I have a subscription to the British Newspaper Archive, they have good
coverage through WWI but then gets patchy. Many War Memorials seem to be
sorted out and erected quite quickly after WWI ended. I would expect that
Caerhun was done quickly with being a small community and just brass
plaques. There is a memorial in Tyn Y Groes at the crossroads.
I do wonder if there is more to the story but probably forgotten now.

I checked into your question on Welsh Newspapers Online. Nothing that I
could find in reports up to 1919, which is the current limit of online
availability.
