Hello Jan,
Looking at your list of Jones children puts me in mind of a mystery in my
own family.
One of my greatgrandfather's brothers was called Rowland Jones Wynne. My
Wynne's come from Llanbedr, near Harlech, until some moved to Llanenddwyn
Parish close by.
This Rowland Jones Wynne emigrated to America sometime in the 1880's, as did
two other brothers. So, what I was wondering where on earth the name Jones
came from to have given this brother the middle name?
So, if you come across a Jones'Wynne marriage somewhere along the line, this
might well answer the question.
Some of my dates are as:
Robert Wynne 1716-1761 in Llanbedr Parish.
Evan Wynne, eldest son.
John Wynne, next one.
Robert Wynne.
John Wynne was born 1751/2
The next generation.
John Wynne, 1794
Next Generation.
William Wynne 1827bapt. into the Calvanistic Methodist Faith, on a circuit.
near Llanbedr.
He later farmed in Llanenddwyn Parish.
I don't think that Dyffryn Ardudwy is too far away from Corris, where the
slate quarries were.
I did think at one time that the Calvanistic Methodists might well hold the
key to this question. Perhaps I thought, Rowland Jones had been an influence
in this Chapel, and would have had his name incorporated into the Wynne
family out of respect for his calling.
Your thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.
Regards,
Maureen Jenkins
