**Apologies to anyone who isn't a member of GFHS!**
Regarding emails concerning the above, I agree with both Meirion and Arlene,
but think that we should, having read Yvonne's email, wait and see what
comes of the current problems. The committee have said through the list
that "all will be explained" - to members, with the next issue of the
journal - and I think, while supporting Yvonne, that we should give the GFHS
Committee some period of grace to reply to us.
I - like Arlene - have produced a newsletter (only 16 pages too!) and that
was quite a task. I think that the job Yvonne has done to date is great and
- maybe - it will be possible for her to resume the task. If not, GFHS will
have a job to find as good an editor.
For anyone who is considering joining GFHS, obviously the discussion on the
lists may have given some bad impressions but my experience as a member -
albeit "out of area" and not joining meetings or AGMs- for 14 years is that
it is worth it. Any organisation can have a "bad patch" and GFHS, the email
lists and the Society of Genealogists London Welsh Group compliment each
other rather than being capable of giving us all we need and want.
I will be voicing my concerns to the committee if we don't hear soon about
either a late Winter issue or a bumper Spring issue to compensate!
In the meantime, there's always the lists!
Alwyn, has anyone thought to provide GFHS non-list members (maybe those who
haven't got the remarkable technology of email) with a digest of digests??
There are some interesting topics covered over each two quarters of the year
that could be precised in a page with a reference to the rootsweb library.
