In checking at Family History Library microfilms of Bishop's Transcripts
1676-1882, Calvinistic Methodist Church, Pennal and Probate Records in
Montgomeryshire and Merionethshire 1663-1840, Sharrie found:
Parish of Talyllyn, County of Merioneth - Year 1828
Matilda JONES
Baptism - Nov 9, 1828 #265
Mal(l)t D" -
Parents' name - Rowland and Elizabeth JONES
Abode is Pantperth-og-mill (?) [could also be Pontperth-og-mill]
Rowland occupation is Miller
Cermony performed by Tho(mas) Evans, Cur(ate).
Most of the names written by this particular curate are what you would
call abbreviated - example: Edw(w/small d subscript); Rich(w/small d
subscript).
=================================
One death found, unfortunately they didn't give the parents names:
1) Mary Jones - abode: Tainewylion(?) - buried March 20 - infant -
performed by D Davies P Curate
Pantperthog Mill (Pantperthog is a small settlement of a few houses
at SH749043.)
pant = hollow, depression, small valley
perth = hedge, bush
perthog = bushy (i.e. scrubland, undergrowth)
For location go to
http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/getamap/
Click on the green rectangular panel (I want to Get-a-map) at the bottom right.
Type in the grid reference SH749043 in the search box.
You will be presented with either a section of the Ordnance Survey
1:25,000 or 1:50,000 maps.
You can zoom in or out as you wish and also view adjacent sections
via the panel on the left.
The other abode name is very likely to be Tai newyddion,
Tai-newyddion or Tainewyddion.
ty = house (plural - tai)
newydd = new (with plural ending - newyddion)
It would be difficult to judge what "Mal(l)t D" -" means out of
context. Does it occur anywhere else in the curate's entries?
