Hi,
I am hoping that somebody will recognise this family and be able to help.
Ellen Humphreys was born in 1876, the daughter of Thomas & Dorothy Humphreys of
Moelfre, Morfa Bychan. She married Evan Jones in 1901 and they had three sons: Thomas,
Humphrey and Evan Llewelyn (b.1904).
Ellen and Evan ran the Glaslyn Hotel in Prenteg for a number of years, before moving to
Penrhyndeudraeth to run a fish & chip shop. Ellen died here at a relatively young age,
but I have been unable so far to find when she died. I have also been unable to find out
where she is buried. Evan remarried, and is buried with his second wife.
I think that Humphrey married and went to live in the Birmingham area, but I have no
knowledge of his family.
Thomas (also known as Tommy & Twm Glaslyn) ran a cafe opposite the Midland Bank at
Blaenau Ffestiniog in the 1950's, and was tragically drowned in the Glaslyn while
fishing. As far as I can make out, this happened sometime between 1953 and 1958, but once
again I have no firm date.
Is there anyone out there who knows the family? I need to find out when Ellen & Thomas
died and are buried, as well as any further information about any family that might still
be around.
Regards,
Keith.
