I am still trying to tie up my links with Evan James Davies, Schoolteacher at Harlech.
In the 1841 census I find him in Harlech with a Theophilus Davies aged 20 a Clockmaker. I
can find no reference to baptism or marriage entries on the IGI for Theophilus.
However, the Welsh Folk Museum at St. Fagans were able to give me some information on
Theophilus through references to his clockmaking. He apparently married a Hannah and in
1851 at age 30, was living in Llanrwst with his three children.
According to the references from St. Fagans, he was born in Barmouth I assume around 1821.
Unfortunately there is no mention of parents in the book on Clockmaking so if anyone has
access to Barmouth records around 1821 I'd appreciate any information. Also, a
possible marriage after 1841 to Hannah which I assume would be in llanrwst.
Evan James Davies also had a son William James Davies who was a clockmaker in Harlech. He
was born 17/2/1811 in Llanenddwyn so clockmaking seems a good link.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
regards
Geraint
