I have just noticed this series on Radio 4, unfortunately missed the
first
few programmes and today's programme is just about roofing but could be
worth watching out for in case it every appears again.
DOCUMENTARY: Slate Stories

Date: Sunday 18th September 2005
Time: 14:45 to 15:00 (Already shown)
Duration: 15 minutes.
Sian Pari Huws presents a series exploring the significance of slate with
people whose lives, in many different ways, are bound up with this ancient
rock. 1: Quarrymen. Until the 1960s working conditions in the slate
industry
were little changed from those of Victorian times. Sian meets the few
surviving members of a generation of quarrymen who risked their lives and
health in the slate mines of North Wales.
