Just to add to my previous, can I just give an example of why you must be a
little cautious so you don't miss anything! Forgive me if I get the names a
little wrong...
David Thomas marries and has a child Catherine baptised.... an unrelated
Catherine David dies 3 years later aged 80 but is simply recorded as
"Catherine David"...because, of course, everyone knows (at the time anyway!)
which Catherine is which!!!... the "right" Catherine David grows up and is
married in a nearby parish 20 years later but is overlooked owing to the
absence of any age in the PR and assumptions made...
Enfuriating, I know... from experience!!! However, I think we have to be
honest with ourselves and each other when the facts run out... Someone
coming to your notes in 20 years time might be glad of a footnote explaining
the absence of any corroborative evidence...
Again, I hope this email is taken in the congenial spirit intended.
Ian
I would not say that you can take it that you have the burial of the right
children at all.
