Hi Susan,
Thank you for the note to everyone. I'm glad to hear that Welsh heritage is
alive and well in CT just as it is in Vermont.
Vermont is holding a cymanfa canu (y gymanfa ganu) in Poultney on Sunday,
October 2nd beginning at 3 PM. Mari Morgan, (a native of South Wales
residing in NJ) conductor of the North American Welsh Choir is the conductor
and we've some special music lined up via soloist Gretta Lloyd - also with
North Wales heritage links via the Glens Falls, NY region and Tennessee.
The event will be held at the Poultney Welsh Presbyterian Church (Grove
Street - U.S. Route 30) in the village of Poultney. A te bach will be held
afterwards in the undercroft of the church. Folks loving to sing the Welsh
hymns are enthusiastically invited to join us.
Its a great opportunity to enjoy some Welsh culture in New England to anyone
who lives here or is visiting to see the fall foliage also. Lodging is best
to be sought in nearby Rutland or Glens Falls as the B&B's here are booked
at this time.
Bring along a Welsh hymnal and your desire to sing to the Lord and join with
us and celebrate your Welsh heritage.
(On Saturday, Oct. 1st, the Poultney Chamber, in conjunction with the local
Rotary Club and the Vermont Farmer's Market is sponsoring its annual Town
Wide Yard Sale Day and Chilli Cookoff event. Many things to do in the
village on Saturday and on Saturday evening, the local college choir will
hold a concert as part of their annual Parents' Weekend event. The choir
sings songs in Welsh too - - - at every one of their concert performances.

Subject: [GWYNEDD] Welsh Society of Western New England
Hello listers
I have met many listers through genealogy research on our North Wales'
rootsweb lists and have introduced a few to the Welsh Society of Western
New
England, USA. We have a genealogy group and a Welsh language class within
the
Society (we're small anyway...about 80 members) and all trace our
ancestry back
to Wales, many from North Wales.
If anyone out there lives in Western MA, in VT or NH or in Connecticut
where
I live and would like to know more about the WSWNE please get in touch
with
me off list.
We have helped each other with location of towns and villages, with the
Welsh language, and with tracing families.
