Is your John Parry Wynne related to Sir Thomas Parry? I am related to that
family in the Lleyn Peninsula.
Also, I have a great grandfather, Ebenezer Vaughan Wynne Griffith. I know
that the Vaughan name came from his mother, Elizabeth Vaughan, but I have
never been able to figure out where the Wynne name came from.
Ebenezer's father was Roland/Rowland Griffith bap. 3 July 1768, born in
Dinas Mawddy, Merionethshire. He married Elizabeth Vaughan 25 May 1795 in
Mallwyd Parish and they came to the U.S. in the early 1800s, but I have not found
an emigration record for them. Ebenezer was born in the Utica area in New
York State, USA. My information comes from a Family Bible. Although Utica and
Oneida County have scattered records for the time period, neither has records
to help me. I know Wynne is almost as bad as Jones, but I'd welcome any
suggestions for a good way to zero in on my research to trace the Wynne name. I
am very proud of my Welsh families and the living cousins I have found and met
in Wales. I started my Welsh research with only this information: My
mother said that her father said that he was 1/4 Welsh.
Betty Brown in Colorado.
