I have quite often used my camera to take a picture of an image from a film
/ fiche, for either my own records or to get a second opinion about a name.
It is often easier than moving the film to a reader with printer attached
and a better copy than the printout.
Most places that I have used don't charge excessively for photocopies so
some of the charges for cameras seem very high.
Often a picture can be taken of an open page in a book with less chance of
damaging the spine of the book.
I quite frequently receive images from a friend in London who spends a lot
of time in TNA, he often is looking at large plans of military sites and
photocopying is not practical. I believe they only require cameras to be
registered and do not charge.

As ROs will photocopy or photograph records, I cannot see the
added value of digital photography to the user unless
escaping photocopying charges is one of them.
