I understand that the post 1837 births, marriages and deaths in the
Llanbeblig and even the Bangor districts would have the occasional visit
from the registrar who would apparently cross over the Menai Straits to
fulfil his duties. There was a ferry operating between Caernarfon and
Brynsiencyn in the olden days which could account for the connection there
for instance. As for censuses, I am unable to explain the code, but at the
next Ynys Mon branch meeting this will be discussed.

Subject: [GWYNEDD] County of birth - 1841 census
Dear list,
Does anyone know whether the county of birth in the 1841 census might have
been "N" for an Anglesey-born person living in Caernarfonshire or vice-versa
a Caernarfonshire-born person living in Angelsey?
I have had a surprising "N" in a Llanbeblig resident whom I thought to have
been born in Angelsey (but had no good proof).
Yours,
Ian
