Heather,
Totally agree with your comments about Bangor and Caernarfon - I'll wait and
see for Pwllheli.
regards
Geraint

Subject: [GWYNEDD] Register Office
Hi Geraint
Possible reasons for delays in service
1) More people than ever doing family history - backlog of requests in
areas like Gwynedd because of the common name factor not necessarily
encountered in other districts where GRO can take care of easily
identifiable certificates.
2) More people travelling abroad needing birth certs for passports
applications.
3) More employers requiring long certificates for identification
purposes.
3) Spring is marriage season - primary duty of the Superintendant
Registrar
I think.
4) Many offices have had problems with the new computer system

There appears to be only one member of each of the local offices who takes
care of family history enquiries. I'm sure you will receive excellent
service once your "turn" arrives. Certainly true in the case of the
Bangor
& Caernarfon offices in my recent experience.
