Alwyn
Apologies, I should have given a bit more information as to why I am puzzled
by
the WILLIAMS name appearing. This is how the surnames appear in 1851 and
1861.
1851 Llanddwywe Is Y Graig (North Lodge - not far from Henborth)
HO107/2511/491/13
Owen RICHARDS (33) Head, b Dolgelly
Ellin RICHARDS (41) Wife, b Llanenddwyn
Owen RICHARDS (8) son, b Llandenddwyn
Hugh RICHARDS (6) son, b Llandenndwyn
1861 Llanddwywe (Castelmoelrhion (?) next door to Henborth) RG9/4321/32/5
Ellen RICHARDS (53) b Llandendwyn - but can't read whether she is widowed
Hugh WILLIAMS (14) son, b Llandenddwyn
Griffith WILLIAMS (9) son, b Llanddwywe
Can't find any sign of her husband as Owen RICHARDS or WILLIAMS so
maybe he is dead?
With Owen's m/c showing his father as being Griffith RICHARDS I would have
expected Owen's surname to be GRIFFITH or RICHARDS but certainly not
WILLIAMS. Ellen EVANS was a spinster when she married Griffith RICHARDS in
November 1842.
On the Llanddwywe gravestone for Hugh (d 1868) and his mother, Ellin (d
1884) they are both described as WILLIAMS.
Regards
Lizzie
