Dear list,
I am interested to know if anyone has information about the heirs of Emmanuel Gunnis,
carpenter of Llanengan, whose will is dated 1787? He was the illegitimate son of Richard
and Anne Gunnis baptised in Abererch in 1717.
He isn't mentioned in JE Griffiths pedigrees and his will mentions lots of cousins.
His heirs are:
Daughter Margaret Roberts,
Cousin Emanuel Prichard son of Robert Prichard of Soch Mill [probably admon 1819 - Emanuel
Roberts, joiner, of Llanengan],
Cousin Dorothy daughter of the above,
Cousin Gladis daughter of the above,
Cousin William Prichard son of Henry Prichard of Caer Mur
Cousin Dorothy William daughter of William Morris of Krickieth [sic]... and more...
He owned Berth Ddu, a farm of 3 acres in Bwlch Tocyn, Llanengan, which he had inherited
from his grandfather John Gunnis [will 1686].
By the advent of the Land Tax, Berth Ddu was owned by John Griffith tenant of
Tanrallt/Lleferin Llanengan - so was it divided or sold?
If anyone has an interest in this family (or anyone above), I would be interested to know.
Berth Ddu was, by 1840, a 3 acre holding owned by John Parry tenant of Tanrallt
Llanengan, grandson of the above John Griffith.
Yours,
Ian Thompson
