Just received a new book in the post and anyone with an interest in
Llanberis might find it worth looking at in the library.
The book is about the huge explosion at a RAF bomb store in Staffordshire
that killed seventy people but part of one chapter is about RAF Llanberis
with some good photographs and plans. This was also a bomb store but
collapsed in 1942. I have always been interested in the place because we
used to explore the surface buildings when I was at UCNW though we never
knew the full story at that time and did not know about the main part of the
site. There were lots of stories about the amount of stuff still lying
around in the quarries above site.
Also I read much later that much of the salvaged munitions was moved to
Rhiwlas so was again interested because my Taid was born in Brynrefail so I
had been around the area.
