Many thanks Alwyn. That's really helpful.
My family had moved from the Gellilydan area to Tan y grisiau in May 1881 (according to
the chapel records). If there was no burial ground at Salem before about 1882 this
explains why my family were using the graveyard of Ramoth, Llanfrothen in the 1840 - 1870s
when they lived at Cae einion alun. So it looks as if I won't find any burials of my
Robertses in Salem.

I've had a quick look through the Salem MIs - The earliest burial there
appears to be about 1882 and the latest recorded is ain the 1970's. The
cemetery appears to have been busiest in the first 2 decades of the 20th
centaury

Thanks Angharad, I'll get hold of a copy of the MIs.
I knew that my Scotch Baptist lines attended Rehoboth and Ramoth - many are
buried in Ramoth, so it was a surprise to find out 2 days ago that some were
also members of Salem. The Salem MIs might reveal other members of the
family that I haven't yet found.
I'd more or less assumed that Salem didn't have a graveyard - that would
have explained why the family, when living quite near to Salem and attending
Salem, buried their dead in Ramoth, Llanfrothen - a very long journey with a
coffin. But Salem clearly has a graveyard. I wonder why they chose Ramoth?
Perhaps Salem graveyard postdates 1860?? - although my family continued to
use the cemetery in Ramoth until the mid 1890s they opened no new graves
there after 1860. So p'haps the Salem cemetery didn't open until about
then??? The MIs might reveal the answer to this.
Many thanks.
