Many thanks for the searches Ian, I am convinced my Grace's father was something to do
with ships, be it as a builder, carpenter or sailor, as there seems to be a strong and
long history of mariners in the whole of this side of the family, plus I have this written
history my great grandfather wrote and he says 'Grace was the youngest daugther of
Thomas Samuel, a ship and boat builder of Caernarfon', although like I said I have
already discovered some inaccuracies in it.
I might order this will of Thomas Samuel to see if it has any relevance although if he
died in 1811 he can't be Grace's father as she was born 1814 ish (again I am aware
that the birth dates on the census info can be up to 5 years out which is why the will
might shed some light).
On IGI I have found a christening of a Grace Samuel in 1816 to parents William and
Elizabeth Samuel in Llanbeblig so think this must be my Grace, I would just like to
somehow confirm this, which is where I thought a marriage certificate would come in
useful.
I am sorry if I have asked this before (I cant remember!) but I know their Grace Samuel
and Hugh Rogers had their banns announced in September 1836 in Bangor, is there any way of
discovering the date of their marriage and then ordering the certificate? Were marriage
certificates even in place in 1836?
Thanks again for your help.
Vicki

There are 82 Samuels in the period 1750-1850! The two below are (I think) the only
mariner and Llanbeblig one respectively.
Thomas Samuel, Mariner B/1811/43 1811
