The latest issue of Gwynedd Roots has an article about Anglesey bonesetters.
Many years (late 1950s or early 1960s) we stayed with my Taid at Tal-y-Sarn.
I remember we went for a drive around Anglesey and stopped at a house where
he had supplied slate for their fireplace. He lived at Tyn-yr-Weirglodd
quarry, his father had been manager and the quarry was known for its green
slate - like many retired quarrymen he recycled slates from the spoil heaps
to sell for a bit of extra money.
I remember him pointing out a house where a famous bonesetter had lived -
can't remember if it was the same one as one he supplied with slate for
their fireplace. I have a feeling there was a plaque commemorating the
bonesetter on or by the house.
The article says they were mainly called THOMAS and Taid mother was
Catherine THOMAS though was born in Deiniolen about 1857. I don't know much
about her parents, going have to have another look now more available
online. They were William and Jane THOMAS. William was dead by the 1861
census so don't know where he was born, Jane was born ABT 1828 Llanengan.
