My maternal line goes back to Mary Wheeler James (yes from Wales
sometime @ 1640) born in Virginia 1706, her mother is Diana (surname
unknown) who married John Wheeler and there I am at a halt. And only
got that far thanks to the state of Virginia keeping all sorts of
genealogical records.

Another Rootsweb list I am subscribed to has an interesting
conversation
going on right now - - how far back have you traced your maternal ancestry?
Most folks tend to focus on tracing their paternal lines, it seems,
according to those chats.
How far back with North West Wales ancestors can you go?
Currently, I'm at a brick wall in the Bethesda area with my Nain's mother,
Mary Edwards who was born about 1848. I am hoping the Ancestry dna tests
recently completed will shed more light about her line.
