Hi
Penygroes is a quarry village a few miles from Caernarfon where the Gwynedd
record office is. So you are likely to find what you need there.Yes you may
walk in and they are very obliging but if you should need to use a microfilm
or fiche machine it does pay to book in advance especially this time of the
year when visiting researchers tend to be more numerous. You will find
information on the web about opening hours (closed on Mondays) and phone
number.

Subject: [GWYNEDD] Hughes in Penygroes
Hi all -
I am helping a friend do a fast bit of research prior to her trip to North
Wales next week!
Hugh R Hughes b. 1880
emigrated to Poultney, Vermont USA
ship-Carmania 10/1/1913 (from Liverpool)
home given as Penygroes Wales
His wife
Anne Ellen Jones Hughes
dob-4/22/1880
dod-1979 Rutland, VT
a younger sibling of Anne:
John Griffith Jones
wife-Lucy
The main question is: is there a library, archive, history centre, etc. in
the Pen-y-groes area that might have family history or genealogical
information and will be accessible to walk-in visitors? ANy assistance
is greatly
appreciated!
