Hello Carolyn
Yes, my Jane Ellen ROWLANDS did live at 17 Victoria Place, Bangor. She would have only
been about 13 so a concert/eisteddfod seems likely I don't have access to the paper
you mention but would love to have a copy of the article. I'm sure I could find
someone to translate for me.
Her son, Richard Emyr HUMPHREYS, went on to become a concert pianist and also an organist
who played at the Bangor Cathedral and also on HMS Conway on Sundays (when he wasn't
running his bakery/cafe business in Upper Bangor).

Hi Lizzie,
Thanks for sharing that. It would seem likely that our great grandparents
would have known or certainly known of each other. Do you have access to
the 19th century British Library newspapers? I found an entry for a Jane
Ellen ROWLANDS in Y Genedl Cymreig (Caernarvon, Wales), Thursday, June 13,
1878; Issue 71.
It is in Welsh so I am not sure what it is about, but it is a list of people
so I think probably a concert or eisteddfod. It has her living in
Victoria-place in Bangor. Would she be your Jane Ellen?
Cheers
Carolyn
