I haven't found anything about your John Jones in my library of books on
Anglesey - just a quick peek - but are you aware of the impact on Welsh
history/culture of the Morris brothers from Penrhosllugwy? One founded the
Cymmrodorian Society. The place produced an amazing number of significant people
in history.

Hi Janice,
I just wish the year's were a little different for this Jones family as I'm
trying to find information about my gr. gr. grandmother, HANNAH (DAVIES)
HUGHES who came to Pottawattamie Co., IA from ____, Wales in 1849-1850 with
her three-year old son, RICHARD HUGHES, and married HUGH JONES in Oct., 1850
in Pottawattamie Co. He was 30+ and she was 33. I am unable to find
any information for either. (My family link is through the Hughes family.)
I wish I could help you - and hope you receive several responses.
Joan

Subject: [GWYNEDD] Jones family, Anglesey
The list has been quiet today.....
I seek help with finding info about:
John Jones, birth estimated about 1789 in Anglesey.
His wife's name was Elizabeth. I don't know maiden name.
They had several children:
Hugh Jones,
Richard Jones,
John Jones,
Edward Jones,
James Jones,
Elizabeth Jones,
Martha Jones,
Margaret Jones
All the children were born on Anglesey and when son John was born about
1814, the family was then resident at Penrhoslligwy.
The parent John Jones is reported in history note I've found as:
"...a properous agriculturist on Anglesey ... and he was an active
churchman
of the Calvinistic Methodist faith. He died at the advanced age of 84
years
and his widow passed away when she reached the same age."
I've been through the 11 pages of census data for Penrhoslligwy for 1841
and
don't find the family there. Can anyone help me?
Thanks.
Janice
