HI
I hope someone might be able to help, I am trying to research the following family and
have got the following from Pedigrees of Anglesey and Carnarvonshire, by John Griffiths
and a handwritten family history passed down- quite a bit of info to follow
William LLoyd of Gwyddfrynie, party to a deed, Sept 10 1637 married Catherine - what does
party to a deed mean and can I trace this?
Son was John Lloyd of Gwyddfryniw who married Elizabeth Owen
Children were Mathew, Penelope and Catherine nat before Jan 3 1648 - what does this mean
please and William Lloyd living Mar 24, 1710 who married Abigail unknown
William and Abigail had the following children John Lloyd party to a deed Aug 2, 1732
married Elinor before 1710, Abigail, Mary and Thomas LLoyd.
I am unsure who Thomas married (can anyone advise how I can find this out?) but he had 3
son's Thomas Lloyd DD, Dean of Bangor o.s.p bur Oct 31 1793, Lewis Lloyd, Coll of
Customs at Holyhead, o.s.p 1794 - what does o.s.p mean please and Griffith Lloyd of Bryn
Adda, Bangor who married Margaret.
It is Griffith Lloyd who I am very interested in, it says he was party to a deed in 1732,
and his wife margaret has Bur. Sept 7 1727 next to her name.
They had 2 son's William Lloyd of Vaynol, Bangor and Thomas Lloyd of Treborth Issa who
married a Lowry unknown and had Mary (March 20 1779 - my direct descendant), Margaret
(1781 known from family history/will), Thomas (Feb 10 1783), Hugh (May 3 1785), John (Jan
15 1787, mort), Robert (Mar 17 1789, bur Jun 23 1809), William (May 6 1790), Elizabeth
(Aug 22 1793), Edward (Mar 5 bur May 21 1797) and John (July 28 1802). I assume the mort
after the first John's name in 1787 signifies he died at birth?
Thomas Lloyd of Treborth Issa I know died in 1836 as I have his will but it does not give
his age. The will leaves his possessions to 5 of the above children and I can trace them
all on census records/death certfifcates etc plus all 5 are mentioned in a handwritten
family document I have (Mary, margaret, Thomas, John and Elizabeth). Note on the pedigree
Margaret is absent. Until I received the pedigree I was unaware of the other children and
assume all had died prior to 1836.
I am confused over Thomas' possible date of birth. Following the above his mother
Margaret was bur Sept 7 1727, which would mean he was born no later than this, and would
make him at least 52 when his first child was born, 75 when his last son was born and the
grand old age of at least 109 when he died. Even thouhg his youngest daughter Elizabeth
lived until she was 97 I am not convinced he would have been 109!
Can anyone advise me on how to go about finding out more about this family? I know it
seems alot of information already but I am lacking dates for births, marriages, deaths
etc.
Many thanks
Vicki
