Dear Ian,
Thank you so much for this tree, which I have been wondering about for
some time.
I had a Richard David Williams, son of a Richard David Williams, both
solicitors and had wondered if he was from the 1st marriage. He (RDW 2) is
mentioned in (the possible 2nd wife), Catherine Anne Griffith's, Will, as
his children RDW3 and daughter Catherine (Kate) were to inherit items
belonging to their grandparents, (ie RDW 1 and/or Margaret.)
However, what confuses the issue is that RDW 2 married in 1836, and the
newspaper report mentions his late father, who, from the above we know to
have died in 1850. There are no RDW's listed as attorneys/solicitors on the
Carnarvon Traders site until 1856, which must be RDW 2.
In Catherine's funeral report of 1873 it mentions that her husband had
died 'nearly 40 years before', which would indicate that he died c 1834-5.
I am so puzzled by all this, and the only records I can find of a
Richard Williams, solicitor, are in newspaper articles of 1820 and 1821, in
addition to the births of his 2 daughters.
Thank you so much for trying to help me sort out this mystery man. (He
left no Will, as far as I can see, which considering his profession, seems a
bit surprising.)
Best wishes, Judith
