Hello Dave,
I was in the Caernarfon RO yesterday and did a lookup for Richard being
born in Llanrhychwyn. Sorry to say he does not appear to have been born
there between 1803 and 1810. The marriage record would seem to imply
therefore that he was living in the parish at the time of his marriage, but
not born there. (He wasn't born in Eglwysbach either.)
Perhaps you could look in the surrounding parishes? Eglwysbach is on
the other side of the River Conwy, but folk often 'hopped across' and
presumably that is how they met.
Sorry not to be able to give you any good news,
best wishes, Judith

Subject: [GWYNEDD] JONES of Eglwysbach/WILLIAMS of Llanrhychwyn
It has been over a year since I’ve posted on this family and, while
there
have been some slight advances, much remains to be done!
My g.g.grandparents were Richard and Catherine (JONES) WILLIAMS. They
were married in Eglwysbach parish in March of 1832 and subsequently
emigrated to the United States aboard the William Byrnes in August of that
same year. While I have had some luck in tracing Catherine, Richard
remains very elusive.
Catherine was born in 1810. Her parents were David and Jane (OWENS)
JONES, born in 1772 and 1774 respectively. They were married in the
parish church of Llanfair Talhaearn in 1794. Their residence is listed as
Goelas Fawr in the Township of Maenan. In addition to Catherine, they had
at least four other children – Jane (b. 1796), Thomas (b. 1798), William
(b. 1805) and Bennet (b. 1812). All of the children were baptized at
Llanddoget.
According to his US naturalization papers, Richard was born in
Caernarvonshire in 1808. The record of his marriage to Catherine reads
that he was “of the Parish of Llanrhychwyn in the County of Carnarfon”.
That is the extent of my knowledge regarding Richard.
Is anyone able to associate with this family, particularly Richard? I
would be very happy to exchange information with them.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
Dave Williams
