There are a number of parish and chapel registers on the IGI (familysearch.org.uk - chose
the "old format"). Batch numbers for parishes to enter in the bottom box on the
search page can be found online by googling "IGI batch numbers". The search
page is reasonably easy to get to grips with.
Beware that coverage is not comprehensive and that many parishes are not included at all.
Born in Pwllheli could mean an awful lot of places - I have found that people might have
used Pwllheli to mean anywhere from the tip of the Lleyn peninsula to well beyond Pwllheli
itself! Unfortunately John Thomas is a common name as well (I have at least 4 in various
parts of my research). Do you have anything else to pin him down? For example, have you
found him in every census? Are there other family members? A marriage? Father? All
these things can help to ensure you have the "right" John Thomas.
Reg Davies website Welshmariners is worth looking at (and remember not to focus overmuch
on Pwllheli to hte exclusion of all other possibilities! Reg has combined mates and
masters certificates with memorial inscriptions, census and other information

Would SKS please tell me if there are any parish records available
online
or for purchase for Pwllheli?
I am looking for the baptism of John THOMAS born on 30th July 1820.
By 1829 he was a cabin boy at sea and gave his place and date of birth as
above. Whilst he was on land, he said he lived in Bank St. Bangor
Any information much appreciated
Many thanks
Ann
