Hello Ellen (good Welsh name!),
There are no tartans relating to Welsh families in Anglesey, as far as I
know.
It was a Scottish thing.
Even then, tartan, as we know it today, is not thought to have existed
in Scotland before the 16th century.
Cofion gorau / Best wishes,
John Fraser Williams

Subject: Family Tartans
First time to this List and am hoping someone can set me straight. My question is about
Family Tartans, eg - a particular "Smith" Family Tartan OR does same Tartan
belong to all "Smith" Families in general?
Am trying to ascertain whether or not my Anglesey Family had a Tartan all their own or
did it pertain to all Families of the same last name....
Thanking you in advance
Ellen
