I would first of all like to point out that failing e-mail and telephone
there is always Royal Mail so for Mike Spathaky of Genfair to state that
they are having a long standing difficulty in contacting me doesn't quite
hold water. Mike has known that I had moved to a temporary address and that
as soon as I moved back home then the 'phone number would revert back to the
original one therefore common sense would suggest that on finding the
temporary phone number to be unobtainable, trying the home number would be
the way forward. I was supposed to have been away from home for a period of
about 5 weeks but this became 5 months and I have not long been back. Just
prior to moving back home I fell and cracked a rib, came back here to find
the 'phone lines were damaged and had to wait a full week for an engineer
but he could only repair the fault to the box just inside my front door and
not into the room where I had my computer so I had to buy a telephone
extension kit. That didn't work either until I discovered that my labrador
pup had found something new to chew on!! That remedied, my computer died
and had to go in for repairs. When I finally got up and running I had 724
e-mails waiting for me of which there are still 338 to be seen to.
I feel that I must point out that every single one of us that does work for
the Society does so on a voluntary basis and I now feel that what was once a
great pleasure has become a chore. There are always those people who are
extremely grateful for whatever we do to help but these days it seems the
more one does the more is expected. I started these mailing lists to help
those with an interest in family and local history and not for posting
messages such as these which are very unhelpful and should be done off list
if at all.
I am sorry if anyone has had difficulties through not being able to order or
renew membership through Genfair and if so there is always the other way -
by post.
When all is said and done, my son, my home and my own well being are far
higher on my list of priorities than anything else.
Mike - I have now seen your messages and will deal with them within the next
couple of days. Most of the orders mentioned have been dealt with. Today
and tomorrow are being taken up with sending out the November journal. If
Gwynedd are to go back on the Genfair stand then please let me know as I've
managed to get someone to take over from me.
Alwyn - could you contact me off list as there's something I would like to
'talk' to you about.
Dottie - I'm sorry about the problems you've had - hope things can be
resolved.

I had the message, pasted below, from Mike at GENfair today. Does
anybody
know what the problem at GFHS is? And, more importantly, is there anything
that members and friends of the society can do to help resolve any
difficulties?
Regards
Alwyn

I'm sorry the Gwynedd FHS stand at GENfair is not available at present.
We are having a long-standing difficulty in contacting the Society. They
are not responding to my emails and the phone contact phone number I have
been given is now unobtainable. As we have been unable to guarantee
delivery of their items ordered at GENfair, we have had no option but to
temporarily close their GENfair stand.
I hope the matter can be resolved soon but it is really in the Society's
hands now.
Best Wishes,
Mike Spathaky
