Dear List Members,
A long shot. My g-g-g-grandfather was born illegitimately around 1816 -
believed to be in Newport Monmouth. He spent his childhood being brought up
by his paternal relatives in Herefordshire.
As an adult, he married and settled in Bangor. Until recently, we had no
idea as to the name of his mother and whether he was given her name or the
name of his father. The discovery of an old diary now leads us to believe
that he took his mother's name and so would have originally been called
BENJAMIN GOODISON.
If this is incorrect, or he had already adopted his father's name, he would
have been BENJAMIN GREENLY. His son, SAMUEL GREENLY was born in Bangor in
1851. Neither individual appears in the 1881 census.
Does anyone know if the earlier censuses covered this area and if so, is
there a list member who has the records and would be kind enough to do a
look-up.
Any related information of any kind about the GREENLY family in Bangor would
be greatly appreciated.
