Hello Pat,
What names are you researching in Penmachno? I have OWEN(S) from
1782-1875:
Lewis OWEN (1782-1851) m.1813 Jane PIERCE (1790/91-1830)
their son:
Owen OWEN (1813-1875) m. Margaret ROBERTS (from Cae Canol, Ffestiniog)
whose son:
John OWEN (1849-1913) m Ellin Lloyd (1854-1939)
was my g-grandfather.
Last week in the Caernarfon Archive I found that Lewis Owen was the son
of Owen Luke and Elinor Lewis. Owen Luke was the son of Luke Pritchard.
All these were in the Penmachno parish registers. This family were
slaters, though Lewis Owen changed to being a hosier in his mid-30s.
Owen Luke had a brother called Joseph Luke and a cousin called Richard
Owen, and they are all mentioned in books about the area.
I am still none the wiser about where Jane Pierce came from. There were
Pierces in Penmachno from around 1800, but I think they must have moved
into the area.
I have a number of entries transcribed from the Penmachno registers, so
let me know your names in case I have something about them.
Incidentally there is a monumental inscription for Lewis, Jane and Owen
Owen, but it gives Lewis's date of death wrongly - it should have been
1851, not 1850 as the stone has it. This also I learned from the
Penmachno burials register - proof that MIs are only secondary sources -
as in this case the stone was probably put up after Owen Owen's death in
1875, whereas the entry in the register would have been made near the
time of burial.
Best wishes,
Ann

Hello to all in Northern Wales.
I am trying to find out if there is anyone of you that lives near the
Penmachno Cemetery. I have been told by a distant cousin that my
g-g-g-grandfather might be buried there. IF one of you would like to take a
look for me, please contact me off list and I'll send details!
