Hello Kay
The details for your gtgtgrandfather came from the publication 'Y Cyfaill
o'r Hen Wlad' Volume 53 April 1890.
In the Society's publication compiled by Mr. Gordon Roberts, he lists
libraries holding copies but states that the lists of american libraries was
compiled prior to 1956. The present state of the holdings is not known.
the list is as follows:-
Library of Congress
Boston Public Library
Ohio State University, Columbus
Princeton Theological Seminary
Presbyterian Historical Society, Philadelphia
Cornell University, Ithaca, New York

Subject: Griffith Owens
I am new to this list and would like to post a query regarding my
great
great grandfather, Griffith Owens. According to "Emigrants from Gwynedd
to the USA", he was born in 1803 in Llanaber (Bwlch yr Ysgol),
Meirioneth. He came to the USA in May 1842 on the barque Hindoo from
Caernarvon. His wife's name was Elizabeth ? (born 1807-1810). Children
born in Wales were Mary (1830), Anne (1831), Jane (1834), Owen D. (1838)
and Edward (1840). They went to N.Y. for a short time, then Marquette
County, Wisconsin, and finally settled in Lime Springs, Howard County,
Iowa, where the parents died and are buried. If anyone is familiar with
this family, would be happy to hear from you.
I'm sorry if this has been discussed before on this list but would like
to know the source for the reference number of Griffith Owen V53.04 on
"Emigrants from Gwynedd". Is it possible to get a copy of the original
article?
Thanks so much.
Kay Gavin
