I'm hoping that someone on this mailing list will recognise at least one
of the names on my family tree.!!!
My mother was born in Llandudno in 1902, she was Lilian Mercham Jones, the
daughter of Moses Jones and Mary Ann.
My grandfather, Moses Jones, was the second born of quite a large family :-
Robert Thomas . 1877.Eglwysrhos.
Moses.2 May 1879.Towyn.
Harriet A. 3 April 1881. Towyn
Margaret J. 1884. Towyn
Mary Elizabeth. 1884. Towyn
Rhoda Catherine. 1886. Liverpool
Rowland E. 1889. Liverpool
Charles Richard. March 1891. Llandudno
John Newton. 20 October 1895.Llandudno
Hannah Rebecca. 25 October 1896.Llandudno
Percy.24 December 1899. Llandudno
Ann Elizabeth.28 September 1902. Llandudno
and possibly Ernest 28 September 1902. Llandudno. All dates all
christenings except for that for Moses.(birth certificate)
All these children were born toThomas Jones and Margaret Jane Owens. I
cannot be sure of Thomas's parents, but Margaret Jane was the daughter of
Robert Owens (a railway porter in Bangor in 1851) and Ann Jones who was born
at Llandrillo yn Rhos about 1820.
Thomas Jones, my great grandfather was the lessee manager of the Prince's
Theatre in Llandudno in 1901, and was responsible for a concert to celebrate
the coronation of Edward VII. He also organised performances by the d'Oyly
Carte Company.
My mother's family went to Canada after WW1, but returned to this country in
1930. My grandfather's brothers lived in USA, and I know that John Newton
Jones live in New York until the early fifties, and I believe that his
brother Percy also lived and died in the States.
Does anyone have knowledge of, or connections with, any of these members of
my family ?
Yours in hope, Keith E. Poole.
