I would be grateful for any help to break the brick wall of my ancestor
Richard Thomas (1814-1884).
He lived most of his life in the parish of Llanfairmathafarneithaf which
is the birth parish given in the censuses, but looking for Thomas
entries in Llanfairmathafarneithaf and Llanddyfnan parish registers has
not thrown up any likely candidates.
He married Elizabeth Williams (1811-65) at Amlwch on November 11 1834,
and both were said to be of Amlwch and both made a mark. (Incidentally I
found about 10 possible candidates in 1810-1811 for Ellen Williams, so
this can reasonably be considered a lost cause).
Between 1835 and 1837 they lived at Llain Delyn Amlwch, when they had a
daughter Ellen christened May 9 1835, and a son John christened November
18 1837.
By 1841 they were at Adwy Goch Llanfairmathafarneithaf, and their son
Richard was born in 1840.
In 1851 they lived at Fron, also in LlanfairME, and Richard was
described as a clogmaker.
In the Land Tax assessments of 1858 Richard first appears at Pant y
Bugail, LlanfairME and this was still his residence in the 1881 census.
He died in 1884 and was buried at Tabernacl Calvinistic Methodist church.
I realise that this does not seem very promising, but would obviously be
grateful if anybody does come across any clues on Richard.
