Is there a index of names for the 1841 census? I am trying to locate a
THOMAS W. WILLIAMS b. abt 1820 (from 1851 census of Bangor Agy as boot/shoemaker
b.Agy,Llanfihengel Ysgeifiog) his wife CAROLINE IVEY b abt 1819 (Con Can)
married after the 41 census the known 1st child b. 1844 b. Cae Beddgelert . the
family is believed to have emigrated close to the 1861 census. I don't have
Ancestry and when I tried at library none of the names came up for Bangor any
help or advice is appreciated .
There is no index.
I could not (yet) find a Thomas W. WILLIAMS born abt 1820 (1810-1830
searched) born in Anglesey.
There are 40 Thomas WILLIAMS born 1815-1825 in Anglesey alone...
a little difficult to know which one is the right one.
HOWEVER there is ONE living in Llanfihengel Ysgeifiog......but wife is ANNE.
I also could find no Caroline IVEY which as an unusual name for Wales I
thought I would more likely find.
I did find 6 IVEY's one born Denbighshire and all living in either
Denbighshire, Glamorgan or (mostly in) Flintshire.
You mentioned CON CAN as a birth place, I do not know what that is, does
anyone else?

Dear list (and especially the Joneses of Hamilton whose census transcriptions have been so useful!),
I wonder if anyone knows anything about the family of Pandy Mawr, Llanuwchllyn in 1841 and before? It seems that my gt gt grandfather, John Thomas, was born in Llanuwchllyn and christened in Manchester (possibly because his mother was at home for her "confinement"?). I understand from a cousin that he lived with an aunt in Pandy Mawr in 1841.
There are some intriguing references in the National Library to Pandy Mawr including an englyn. Must follow those up.
Any help would be very gratefully received.
Thank you.
PS A Merioneth-Manchester connection raises the possibility that John Thomas' father was a trader in some of the farm stuffs made in Bala and surrounds which I must follow up. Does anyone have access to any Manchester trade directories of the 1820s to 50s? John Thomas' father was also called John Thomas.
Yours,
Ian

Is the K2 telephone box at Tan yr Allt featured in the Daily Telegraph

Just interested because my Taid lived just down the road at Tyn Yr Weirglodd
and stayed there myself as a child.
It is said to be the least used telephone box in the country and in danger
of being closed.

Mark,
If I require information I normally turn up at the Crem and ask for the
info I require. With the information the person there has always been
helpful in allowing me to go through the books of whatever year I am
searching. The Glanadda Cemetary is split into zones and by looking at the
map layout you can then see the zone for which you are searching. Hope that
this explanation will help.
If you have any poblems please call me 01492-515558.

Hi Bryan,
I'm a bit confused. What do you mean I can see the site layout if I have the
dates?
What I meant is that I had been to the Cemetery and walked around looking
for an Edward Jones d1905 but could not find a particular area for say
around 1905.
I did see 1915 graves next to ~1860 ones which was baffling. The reason I
went off the cuff is because was passing and I had had no reply from the
Bangor crem. I gave an exact date which they said they would look up the
plot for me but have still not got back to me.
