MY GRANDFATHER WAS JAMES OSCOUGH JONES HE WAS ABT 1904 ACCORDING TO THE
AGE HE WAS WHEN HE GOT MARRIED BUT I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND HIS

BELIEVE HE COULD HAVE BEEN ADOPTED BY HUGH AND ANNE JONES, WITH CHILDREN,
WILLIAM HUGH JONES, MARGARET JONES, ELIZABETH JONES, ALICE MARY JONES AND
THOMAS.
OSCOUGH WHERE DOES THIS COME FROM HAS ANYONE ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE?
REGARDS JEANETTE (HIS GRANDDAUGHTER) WE ALWAYS CELEBRATED HIS BIRTH

Does anyone on the list know anything about Male voice choirs at Penrhyn
Quarry in the early 20th century,
I have been sent a photo of a group of men in a slate quarry. The board in
the front of the group says it is the Rainy Days Male Voice Choir, ?? Silver
Cup. There could be a 1910 date on the bottom. The writing is rather faint.
I presume they are at the Penrhyn Slate Quarries.
I would be grateful for any information.

Dear lists,
Does anyone know if the above (referenced from the Catholic Encyclopaedia)
born in Trawsfynydd in the late 16th century, has been researched anywhere
and, if so, where?
The realisation that one of my families was from Trawsfynydd at this time
makes me wonder whether I - or anyone else on the list - has this saint "in
the family".
It would be nice to be able to think there could possibly be a connection.
What social history as well - martyred for being Catholic. I wonder what
they were saying around the fireplaces of Gwynedd when he was killed? I
wonder which of our ancestors would have been rubbing their hands or looking
over their shoulders?
I wonder if anyone knows if he was "written up" in Griffiths (JE or TC) or
anywhere else?
His Catholic Encyclopaedia reference says he was "descended from the Princes
of Wales".
Yours,
Ian

A while ago I asked my brother in North Wales to take some photos of
PROSPECTTERRACE in LLANDUDNO after a request on this list. I have lost this
gentleman's email and name in cyberspace....
If it's YOU...pls get in touch with me....my brother finally sent me some

Dear Christine,
Let me tell you more of my connections to Brynysguboriau. My gt grandfather
David Madoc Thomas of Cloddiau, Llidiardau, married the daughter of William
Roberts (d 1907) of Cynythog Ganol, Bala. William was from Amnodd Wen
originally and their family have already traced themselves back to
Brynysguboriau, Trawsfynydd and even further.
Do let me know how you fit in and whether you have any information about
these families!

Dear Doreen and John,
Thank you so much for all your work in bringing the Merioneth census
extracts you have transcribed to Rootsweb.
You had also kindly looked at 1841 and 51 censuses for John Thomas, later in
Cloddiau, Llidiardau, (1891 and 1901) having passed thru' Plas Madog (1881)
and Bryncocyn (1861 and 71).
I think I have found him in 1851 in Ceunant, Llanycil, and wonder if you
have any info on Ceunant in 1841?
This is just supposition at present but any help gratefully received!
Yours sincerely,
Ian Thompson

Hi,
I was suprised to see Brynysguboriau mentioned as I have connections to Telu Brynysguboriau. Trawsfynydd. John Jones the brother of my gt, gt, grandfather was living there in the 1870's but it was owned by the family for many years before that. even today I have relatives that farm there now.

Dear Angharad,
Thank you very much! I have had a very interesting letter from Pat Coster,
one of the list members, who tells me that the Amnodd Wen family were
descended from the family of Brynysguboriau, Trawsfynydd. Going to TC
Griffiths' book, there they are on pp 113 and 246! Going back to 1700.
What luck and a reference to JE Griffiths' Pedigrees! Seems that someone
has already done all the work on that line and it is just left to check the
details!
Thanks for your interest and help.

Just a few details i have bee able to get off a relative of mine.
She remembers Miss Blodwen Roberts as a teacher at the Boys School at
Maenaoffrem, Blaenau Ffestiniog. She thinks she lived at No 4 Cwmbowydd road, and
had one sister, who married a Mr Pritchard and kept a grocers shop on the
High street at Blaenau. They attended the Tabernacle chapel (Methodist).
Happy hunting

Should have said that they were all born in Meirionethshire. The Llanycil
