People with an interest in the Merioneth Parish of Llandecwyn who have a
subscription to Ancestry.co.uk ‘s Welsh Census Collection might be
interested to know that Ancestry has made a serious mistake in their index.
Llandecwyn has been transcribed as LLANDDWYWE, so if you have been
frustrated in looking for a Llandecwyn ancestor and failed to find him or
her in 1871 try putting Llanddwywe in the “Civil Parish” search option!
I have informed Ancestry of this mistake, but there is no telling when, or
if they will correct it.

Another addition to the Census Transcriptions on GENUKI. The 1841 Census of
Trawsfynydd.
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/MER/Trawsfynydd/1841/index.html
As the original of this document was in a very poor condition I am not sure
how accurate the transcription is, some of the farm names were particularly
hard to decipher and many of them are just a best guess; so if anybody sees
any mistakes please let me know.

I have been wondering about the certificate you have, since
I recieved your e-mail.I am trying to trace my grandfathers family who were
from Holyhead,Anglesey. All I know is that my grandfather was the only son Of
Thomas Roberts and Ann Jones, born 1877.Thomas is found on the 1881 and 1991
census,living in Holyhead.On Thomas and Ann's marriage certificate,the
grooms father is listed as Richard{deceased] in 1876.Does any of this
information sound at all familiar to you,I a have really hit the proverbial
Brick Wall.

It has several passengers lists from Liverpool to the states ; I know how
hard it is in genealogy to "cross the water" so I thought I'd post these
in the hopes it will help someone.

Is there an 1831 Amlwlch/Anglesey census? It is not on the
www.amlwchdata.uk web site. Is it possible that it is combined with
some other census. I am looking for Jones families in 1831 and hope
there has been a transcription available somewhere.
Betty Pace.
Hi,
The transcription of Enumeration District No. 5 (R.G. 12/4660. Folios 69 - 76) of the 1891 census for the Parish of Llanbeblig has now been completed, and can be found in the Census Section at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wlsccaer/
Regards,
Keith.
A full transcription of the Dolgellau census for 1871 has now been added to
the Genuki site

My John Williams had two friends/associates named in his will-- Robert
Jones of Amlwch Ship Owner, and Owen Owen of Amlwch, Flour Merchant
WILL OF JOHN WILLIAMS, D. ABT. 22 MARCH 1879, LOST AT SEA If he was born
about 1822, he was approximately 57 years of age at his death. Will
dated 3 March 1877, prov. 28 August 1880 by Mary Williams, widow. The
widow had been Mary Griffiths before marrying Capt. John Williams, master
of the Rose Schneider, lost at sea.
Does anyone connect to either Owen Owen or Robert Jones of Amlwch?

I sent this e-mail earlier today but it doesn't appear to have reached
the List.
Hi Denise,
Thank you for your reply, as I believe you are probably correct in
associating the Hugh Owen and Ellen Owen mentioned separately in the 1891
census with the Hugh Owens and Ellen Owens of the earlier 1881 census.
This is a valuable piece of additional information with which I am very
pleased.
Thank you so very much.
I have not yet replied to your initial e-mail about 2 possible birth
entries
as currently I believe I may already have these 2 certificates. I will
have
to look up some earlier correspondence to check the GRO references.
However very many thanks, and I will report back. This therefore is an
interim e-mail of thanks just to show that I am very appreciative of your
replies.
Jim from Sunny Rhyl.

Does anyone know of a Mary Jones b. 1830 in Anglesey?
I am looking for a JONES family in Anglesey (probably Amlwch) in 1830,
father perhaps a seaman.
In 1851 census (Liverpool), Mary Jones (now Mrs. John Williams) said
that she was born in 1830 in Anglesey. According to the free BMD
website, a John Williams married a Mary Jones in Llanfyllin,
Montgomeryshire in March 1851 (recorded). I think these John Williams
are one and the same and that his wife Mary Jones came originally from
Anglesey. Their only child was named Mary Jane--John Williams' mother
was a Mary and perhaps Jane was the name of the wife's mother.
In May 1852, a seaman John Williams and wife Mary Jones had a daughter
(Mary Jane Williams, my great grandmother) in Liverpool. By 1861 Mary
Jones Williams as died and apparently John and his little daughter moved
to Amlwch, Anglesey, where John Williams remarried, to a Mary Griffith
(b.abt. 1827, Amlwch). John Williams died in March 1879 when his ship
was lost at sea (between the 1871 and 1881 census reports). By 1881 Mary
(Griffith)Williams was a widow living in Amlwch with the children of John
Williams (John G., William, and Thomas R.).
1851 Liverpool Census.
John Williams, 28, master mariner, Llanddulas, Denbighshire (b.1823)
Mary, 21, wife, Anglesey (b.1830)
Elizabeth, sister to head of house, 15, scholar, Denbigh.
