Am I correct that Anglesey does not participate in the North Wales BMD
project? I don't see that it is possible to search on this web site for
Anglesey material.

Is there some other URL?

Dear All,
I have become interested in EDWARDS, painters, of Bangor in the 19th &
20th centuries - that's painters as in decorators, not artists.
Thomas of that ilk first surfaces in 1871-1881 at 16 Dean St. I reckon
he was in the employ of Thomas WILLIAMS, as he styles himself
'successor' to that gentleman by 1886, when he's at 244 High St, Bangor
(next to the Post Office). Thomas continues at that address until at
least 1913.
In 1923, H.T. Edwards is the proprietor at 244 High St, Bangor, a
position he retains until at least 1936.
AFAIK, 'H.T.' is not a child of Thomas.
[I understand the address is now occupied by 'Cotton Club' Menswear]
Question - can anyone supply the forenames of H.T. THOMAS, please? I
cannot identify the person on the 1901 census, and I would like to
know/try to find out if H.T. is related to Thomas.
If anybody on the list recognises these people, I would be very happy to
give further info. Thomas EDWARDS is my 1st cousin, 3x removed.
Cheers,
Trevor

Llangwnnadl is at SH203328
For location go to http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/getamap/
Click on the green rectangular panel (I want to Get-a-map) at the bottom right.
Type in the grid reference (above) in the search box.
You will be presented with either a section of the Ordnance Survey
1:25,000 or 1:50,000 maps.
You can zoom in or out as you wish and also view adjacent sections
via the panel on the left.

The entry states that he was a mate on the RMS Lienster from 1865-71. She
was built for the City of Dublin Steam Packet Company and launched in August
1860. She was sunk on 10th October 1918 when 501 out of 771 aboard were
killed.

An RMS Leinster ferried mail and passengers between Holyhead and Dublin from
c. 1860 until October 1918 when it was tragically torpedoed and sunk by a
U-boat, shortly after leaving Dublin. Over 500 lives were lost. Plenty of
history etc on the net - just search for RMS Leinster.
All the best,
Allen

I think this Lewis Jones might be the father of my Mary Jones (b.abt.
1830). She married Capt. John Williams, master mariner.
LEWIS JONES, a mariner from Holyhead, Anglesey, Wales. In his daughter's
baptismal record (December 6, 1830 - Anne Maria Jones, mother Ellen) it
says that he is formerly of the Harlequin, which I think refers to a
ship.
I found this entry for a Lewis Jones on the Welsh Mariners site:
Surname Forename Place of Birth Year of Birth CC or Cs No. Died/Pens.
Reg.Ticket Capacities County of Birth Kew Ref.
JONES Lewis Holyhead 1809 62347 mt54 AGY 124/20
135138. m/28718/Leinster/1865-71.
I don't think from this entry that he was a master mariner, but rather a
mate. Is the reference to Leinster a ship?
Does anyone have further information on this Lewis JONES (b.1808-9)?
