Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Dear list,
I wonder if anyone has a copy of the above book as I wonder if the family of
Henry Rowlands of Llewyn Bedw, Llanwnda/Llanllyfni (d1643) are mentioned??
Would Nant Nantlle include Llanwnda/Llanllyfni??
Yours,

FAMILY ESTIMATOR (scroll down)

I used my mother's grandfather as an example and came up with this
estimate, which is not far off. The link at the bottom is to a page with
a tool called a Family Data
Sheet Estimator. It's based on mathematical models of genealogical
records dating back to 1400. These are just estimates and things 'out
of the norm' will throw it off.

The data on this sheet is only an estimate. It is for the end of lines
where you have one date and one name, it will give you a point in time to
start looking ± 8 yrs. It uses mathematical models to predict the average
family. It takes into account that medicine has improved so has the human
life span. It can not take into account war, plague, illegitimate
children, early birth, accidental death or divorce.

A GFHS member (Andreas?) has been recording the 'Robertson' section of
Coetmor cemetery, but I don't know if the project is near completion. I
suspect that the cemetery is administered by the local authority (Gwynedd
Council), who incidentally look after Llanbeblig which is one of the largest
graveyards in the area. Maintaining it is a major problem - how do you
prevent vandalism and provide public access? There are also serious health
and safety issues. At least the graves have been recorded by GFHS.

I was trying to find a grave in the church section of Coetmor Cemetery near
Bethesda last week. I could not find it so I telephoned the Minister of
Glanogwen Parish Church (I think I must have spoken to his wife). I was
told that they do not have record of the position of graves just the burial
register which lists burials.
Incidentally I also visited the Llanbeblig Parish Church cemetery and I was
amazed at the condition. Very heavily overgrown, graffiti sprayed on
headstones and empty beer cans everywhere. It did not say very much for
either the church authorities or North Wales Police.

From Today's Edition of the North Wales Weekly News:
Preserving Conwy's history in print
Vintage newspapers in danger of disappearing forever have been preserved as
new additions to Conwy's archive.
Conwy Archive Service has added microfilms of the original Llandudno
Directory and Register 1867-1910
These newspapers have been microfilmed by the Newsplan Project, which films
"at risk" local newspapers as part of an England and Wales initiative led
by the British Library and the National Library of Wales, and funded by the
Heritage Lottery Fund,.
This extends the newspaper coverage for the county by nearly 20 years, and
will be of great interest to both local and family historians," says senior
archivist, Susan Ellis
The newspapers have been made available to Conwy thanks to financial support
of Llandudno and District Historical Society and of the Aberconwy Branch of
the Gwynedd Family History Society both of whom made donations of £50 to
towards the purchase.
County Records Office at the Old Boarding School, Lloyd Street, Llandudno,
is open every Monday to Wednesday from 10am-12.30pm

Hi,
This may be a daft question but, what is the difference between parts 1 to 8
of MO64 for Llanbeblig St.Peblig? Is it dates or alphabetical? I am
assuming this is the one known as The Parish Church, Llanbeblig.

The ages in old records can be rather unreliable at times, but I will send
you a list of Owen Williams christenings for Penrhoslligwy for 1794-1803.
No likely candidates in 1793
1794
Owen, son of William David, Tyddyn y Gwynt, and Ellin, his wife Oct 12
Owen, son of David Williams, Llaneilian parish, and Mary, his wife Oct 20
1796
Owen, son of Owen Williams, Mill Carrier, and Jane, his wife, March 13
1797
Owen, son of William Rowland, Weaver, and Ann, his wife April 9
1799
Owen, son of William Williams, Gwaen Gimach, and Catherine his wife Nov 24
1801
Owen, son of William Williams, TyGwyn, and Jane his wife, July 19 (but
fortunately for you, but not for him, he was buried on July 24, so he can be
eliminated).
Perhaps a rule of thumb is that the age in censuses come from the person
himself while he is still alive, while ages on gravestones and burial
registers are given by relatives. In normal circumstances I would back the
age given in the census, but in this case the only candidate died very soon
after being christened.
I hope this will be of some help, although it does not make it much easier,
Iolo,

Dear List,
A cousin had a question about an Owen Roberts, (from his MI in Llannor
"Penarth Fawr (Gynt o'r Hyllech) Yr hwn a gladdwyd yn hen fynwent Aberdaron
Chwefor 23 1875 yn 75 oed").
I saw in TC Griffith's recent book a collection of Owen Roberts and Robert
Owens belonging to Penarth, Clynnog but all in the 1700s, none seeming to be
contemporary with this Owen.
I wonder if anyone on the list has any information on the above? Was Owen
originally from Aberdaron?
Yours,
Ian
