Tina,
I have a photocopy of OWEN(S) in the BT for Amlwch, Anglesey (1813-1858)
and there are only two with the given name of Humphrey.
In Llanbadrig, 8 Feb. 1853, christening, Elizabeth, daughter of Humphrey
OWEN and Mary
In Amlwch, 17 Sept. 1814, christening, Humphrey, son of David Owen and
Mary.
Probably not yours but you never know.

Dear Linda
You are the first person I have found researching Owen in that area.
My great grandmother was Catherine Owen who lived in Bethesda, North Wales.
She was some sort of servant possibly housekeeper to the Parry's of Coetmor
Hall. She had a son called John Henry, born in 1857, who is believed to be
the illegitimate son of this household.
However she lived with a man called Thomas Parry but doesn't seem to have
married him. I think that this was arranged for her by the family to cover
the name problem and my Grandfather was christened John Henry Parry.
Catherine Owen was born in 1819 according to the census dates and died July
1867. she also had a daughter Hannah born 1851
If you have a stray Catherine Parry who may fit in your tree could you
please contact me.
Regards
Judy in Derbyshire.
Tina,
I am also searching for an OWEN(s) in North Wales which does seem to be
an impossible task. I have been searching for a William OWEN(s), either born
or christened on June 20, 1831. The date was found in an old family book.
One census says Amlwch, the other says Llanbadrig. According to his marriage
record, his father's name was also William. Thank you for the offer!!

Well this probably qualifies me for being certifiably insane but.....
I've been researching the Owens family name in North Wales. On visits to
Caernarvonshire Archives offices I have hand copied the records of all
Owen(s) christenings in the CAPEL CURIG parish records from 1813 to 1872. I
have done similar lists from the Capel Curig parish records for the surnames
of Parry and Pri(t)chard.
It now transpires that none of these are probably of my ancestors. But as I
have eight pages I am willing to look up names from my transcript to share
with anyone else researching these names from this area. Information is date
of christening, name of child, parents' names occassionally including
mother's maiden name father's occupation, and family residence.
I have similarly transcribed all christenings of surname Owen(s) in HOLYHEAD
(Angelsey) from 1813-1820.
Email enquiries will be responded to if you can wait patiently. I will also
be returning to Caernarvonshire Archives, and Llandudno Archives in April
and May can could look up information for others researching these surnames.

Subject: Help required. 1871 census.
Could one of the listers possibly do a "look-up" for me in the 1871 census for Conway ?
I am searching for my gt.gt.grandmother GRACE JONES, she was at Crown Inn, Crown Lane, Conway in 1861. She was head of household, Widow, 39 and had two sons, JOHN aged 5 and THOMAS (my gt.grandfather) aged 3, all born Conway. They had a servant JANE ROBERTS aged 26, born Caerhun.
At the 1881 census Grace had moved to Tan Y Braich, Caerhun where she was a farmer (of 19 Acres Employing 1 man), aged 60, Widow, but now born Llanbedr and living with her grandson ROBERT OWEN aged 8, born Llanfairfechan, and THOMAS OWEN, Farm Servant (indoor), aged 17 and born Carnarvon (sic) Town.
Where was she in 1871 ?
Also how could she have a grandson, named OWEN, aged 8, when she only had two sons named JONES ?
Thanks in anticipation.
Best wishes,
Keith Poole, Kingswinford. (member No. 1216)

I am looking for any woman who spent time at Ty Gwyn, Llwyngwril in the
1940's. My mother was a student there, and we would like to contact other
alumni about a project dealing with a humanitarian and philantropist, Ms.
Margaret (Daisy) Davies. If you have any information please let me know.
Thank you Sally B. (Chicago)
Can anyone help? I am looking for details of my gt,gt,gt,gt grandfathers birth or baptism.
Morris Jones was born in 1851 in Llanenddwyn, Merionethshire. The 1881 census shows he was age 30.
The GRO hold no details of his birth, so where do I go from here? Can anyone tell me the whereabouts of the parish records for his area from 1851.
Christine Pinnick
Dear All,
May I request a lookup please?
Has anyone access to the Llaneilian, AGY, parish registers? If so, I would very much like
to know if there were any births registered to:
Matthew & Ann OWEN; (maybe) of Melin Adda; 1792-1805.
Ann was the daughter of John (or Hugh John) HUGHES, Ty Coch, Llanwenllwyfo, AGY.
Matthew was the first cousin, once removed, of Goronwy OWEN, the poet.
Matthew is my 4x gt. g/father - and hence John HUGHES is my 5x gt. g/father.
Lookups in Anglesey Marriage *Indexes* (1754-1837) & in York Library in return.

Dear All,
I was under the impression that a mailing list for mills-in-Wales, existed.
However, despite searching both Rootsweb and 'googling', I can't locate one.
Help!, please, if only to confirm I'm not imagining it.
Cheers,
Trevor (York,UK)
Dear Listers,
This is just to let you know that a new list has recently been formed by
myself (sherry.landa(a)virgin.net) and my friend and cousin (jackye(a)mill.net).
Our list is called British-Jewry.
The name probably speaks for itself. It's a forum for anyone researching
British Jewry. Whether your ancestors were "passing through" or permanent
members of British society, this is a place for you. Posts relating to all
aspects of life for British Jews as well as research methods, success stories
and genealogy will be welcomed.
EVERYONE is welcome!
If you are interested in joining then please either mail one of us or
subscribe to the list in mail mode by sending a message to
BRITISH-JEWRY-L-request(a)rootsweb.com that contains the word
subscribe
and nothing else. If they prefer digest mode, they should send the command
instead to BRITISH-JEWRY-D-request(a)rootsweb.com.
We hope to see lots of you there.
Best wishes,
Sherry Landa and Jackye Sullins Joint *Owners* British-Jewry
I am searching for any information about the Griffith family of Towyn, Llanfihangel yn Nhowyn.
In 1793 Griffith Jones from Llanfihangel Ysgeifiog married Anne Owen who was the daughter of Owen Griffith of Towyn, and the grand-daughter of William Griffiths. Griffith Jones was buried on 27 September 1843 aged 73, which suggests a birth year of 1770.
I would be grateful for any information about Pierce Pritchard (1715-1767), who farmed Cruglas (also called Morfa Coeg) from 1744 onwards. He does not appear to have been christened in Llanfihangel yn Nhowyn. He married Elizabeth Edwards, but I have not traced the wedding. Around 1763 he and his brother Owen Pierce were among the first five Methodists who met at a house called Ty'n y Merddyn, Caergeiliog.

Subject: Williams of Traffwll, Llanfihangel yn Nhowyn
I would be most grateful for any information about the Williams family of Traffwll. While there is a pedigree for Traffwll in the Pedigrees of Anglesey and Caernarfonshire Families, I have not been able to link my Williams family to it (if there is a connection).
I have a William Williams born in 1757, who in 1778 married a Catherine Griffith at Llechylched, the daughter of a Griffith Jones and Ellin. This William Williams was still living at Traffwll in 1841.
Their son William, born 1787, married Catherine Jones, the daughter of Griffith Jones and Anne Owen at Llanfihangel yn Nhowyn in 1817.
In 1827 their daughter Mary was born, but I have not found her christening in the Llanfihangel yn Nhowyn parish register. Was she christened at a nonconformist chapel? Or perhaps in another parish?
New to this, so i thought i'd have a go. The following are the names i'm presently interested in. Any help greatly appreciated.
Regards, Robyne
John HUGHES, Quarryman, born abt 1836, Llannor Carnarvon (emigrated Aust)
Son of David HUGHES (Quarryman) of Carnarvon and Elizabeth JONES.
John HUGHES married Margaret WILLIAMS 27 July 1859 in Australia.
Margaret WILLIAMS born abt 1837, Carnarvon (emigrated Aust)
Daughter of John WILLIAMS (farmer) and Elinor GRIFFITH
John WILLIAMS and Elinor GRIFFITH were married 7 Aug 1833
at Llaniestyn, Carnarvon
As are as i'm aware the parents of John HUGHES and Margaret WILLIAMS remained in Wales and there were possibly siblings also that remained in Wales.
Not much to go on i'm afraid!
Thanks, Robyne
