In reading a novel by Edith Pargeter about Llewyllan around 1230-40 A.D.,
I see a reference to a castle/place called ABER. I think it is a
shortening of something longer. Which Aber is it referring to? It seems
to be in the vicinity of Snowden.

Has anyone, in their research, connections to a Dorothy Jones born circa 1860-70 probably in Llanfairfechan area. She had a brother John Robert born 1864. We think that she married someone named Smith ( not sure ). Possibly had a son named George.
regards , Mike Jones.

Dear Ann and other listers,
Picked up your message about the new publication, here are the details :-
Previously published in two volumes as George; An Early Biography and Emlyn: A sequel to George. The Welsh Academic Press edition will contain both titles in a new single volume.
Part 1: George.
A childhood memoir of extraordinary freshness and unsentimental lucidity. (The Times)
Compulsively readable. (Sunday Times)
One of those rare books that one takes at a draught, hypnotically breaking off only here and there to laugh aloud. (Daily Telegraph)
Part 2: Emlyn.
One of the best books on theatrical life that I have ever read...The world of tatty agents, seedy touring managers and a suicide-induced lodgings has rarely been so vividly or so wittingly described. (The Observer)
Very good indeed.(The Guardian)
The W.A.P. edition (600 pp) will be published October 2001. Price £30.00 Hardback (1 86057 0224) and £14.95 Paperback (1 86057 0232)
All this information was taken from the W.A.P. website which is at http://www.welsh-academic-press.co.uk.
It seems that this is going to be a book worth having and will certainly be on my Xmas present list !!!
