Subject: [Br'tFerry] My Briton Ferry connection
Hello listers
I joined some days ago and I've seen no traffic so perhaps I'd better
start
some!
My great-grandfather Edwin SOUTHCOTT was born in Shebbear, Devon but
moved
over the Bristol channel to work on the railway in Briton Ferry, he
lived at
4 Regent St. East and subsequently moved to 22 Mansel St. My grandfather
Sidney SOUTHCOTT met Elizabeth BROMHAM, married her and lived at 'Wood
View', Ynysymaerdy Rd where my mother, Margaret SOUTHCOTT was born and
grew
up.
Elizabeth BROMHAM (my grandmother) was the daughter of Richard BROMHAM
who
was born at the Old Mill, 88 Ynysymaerdy Rd who in turn was the son of
Bartholemew BROMHAM. Bartholemew was a woodsman on Lord Jersey's estate.
I've visted and stayed in Briton Ferry several times.
I have quite a few gaps to fill in!
