I have been following this thread over the past couple of days as I have taken on the
task
of collating data on my now deceased cousin's family and his WILLIAMS line is:
John WILLIAMS & Margaret REES > Lewis WILLIAMS(1798-1848) & Mary
CRAVEN(c1801-1854) >
Lewis WILLIAMS(1824-1893) & Margaret THOMAS(c1828-1866 > Mary Ann WILLIAMS
(1854-1887) &
George BRIDLE > Margaret Jane BRIDLE who was my cousin's paternal grandmother.
These particular families and branches of them have been mentioned on the List
previously,
including baptisms for a number of members of the various families. A Search(not Browse)
of the List Archives will elicit more information. My records show the previous
discussion
was September 2006.
Thanks Mike for the entries from the Giants Grave Cemetery as they add to the family
details that I am missing; and yes the 1861 census entry is for the two brothers Lewis
and
David.

Hi Barbara,
Here is David Williams from the 1881 Census
1881 Census - 17 Regent St West, Briton Ferry,
David WILLIAMS / Widow / 46yrs / born Briton Ferry / Pilot / - baptised 27 April 1834

baptised 11 Jan 1863 Mary WILLIAMS / Dau / 15yrs / born Briton Ferry / Scholar Lewis

L. WILLIAMS / Son / 8yrs / born Briton Ferry / Scholar Margaret A. WILLIAMS / Dau /
5yrs / born Briton Ferry / Scholar

This could well be David lodging with his brother in the 1861 Census:-

Margaret Williams / Wife / 33 / born Baglan

Richard Williams / Son / 2 /scholar / born BF
David Williams / Brother / 27 unmarried / Mariner born BF
David and Lewis parents were Lewis Williams ( Pilot ) and wife Mary
Buried at Giants Grave are the following:-
Boast not thyself of tomorrow, for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. To the
memory of MARGARET the wife of LEWIS WILLIAMS pilot, of Briton Ferry, who died
September 25th 1866 aged 39 years. Also of the above LEWIS WILLIAMS pilot, who died
November 26th 1893 aged 70 years. ?Out of the deep have I called unto thee, O Lord.?
In loving memory of ROBERT JOHN son of DAVID & MARGARET WILLIAMS who died March 6,
1870. aged 10 months. Also MARGARET wife of the above who died March 2 1875, aged 46
years. Also the above DAVID WILLIAMS Pilot, who was drowned in Swansea Bay Nov 3, 1899
aged 65 years.
I have the baptism and burial records for Briton Ferry but there are a lot of Williams
who are pilots and many with the name Lewis Leyson. The easiest route is to check the
1901 Census which is available here, there is a small charge but you can pay by credit
card:-
http://www.1901censusonline.com/
The 1911 Census is also on line, but is more expensive :-

If after that you need further help do not hesitate to contact me.
Regards,
Mike
