Hi John,
Unfortunately the 1871 Census is not indexed so unless you know precisely
where Daniel lived it is difficult to track him down. His first born Lyzod
was born 1875 in Morriston so its likely that Daniel was married 9 months
before that ! They could of course have had earlier children who died
shortly after birth. We know that Daniel was in Briton Ferry in 1861 and
Morriston in 1875 so in 1871 he could have been in either place or some
where else, probably where there was an iron works.
I had a look in the Square in Briton Ferry but could not find him there in
the 1871, but did not expect to, its unlikely that he would have boarded at
the same place for ten years. Being possibly single, it makes it a little
more difficult to find him as you have to read each line rather than family
groups.
You could try the Free BMD, you may be lucky and find his marriage and his
death, this would give you a clue as the dates of these events.
Unfortunately I do not have the 1891 Census.

Hi Michael
Thank you for the warm welcome and that ultra fast reply :-)
I had had this census info at one point but lost it through a systems crash,
but I'm wiser now lol.
You ask whether I have him on other census data? Well, I have him from 1841
up to (now) 1861..
Any chances of a lookup on the 1871 & 1891? Though I think he was married
by 1871. And I think he was already deceased by 1891.
He married (I think) a Mary (Ann) Williams before 1880 and moved to
Morriston at some point prior to the 1881 census.
The Thomas Jenkins in the same household in 1861 is possibly a relative but
not a brother to Daniel. Daniel has a brother Thomas b. 1852 in Cwmafan and
he is with his parents in Ystalyfera in 1861. Daniel's father was born in
Merthyr in 1814 so the Thomas listed could be a relative but that's pure
speculation and has no basis at this time as I haveb not found the
connection to Merthyr other than Daniel's father stating his birthplace as
Merthyr Tydfil in censuses.
I would be over the moon if he could be found in 1871 so thanks in advance
to anyone that can find him.
God Bless
John.

Hello All.
Seams a quiet list but hopefully lots of info and help available :-)
My name is John Jones, I live in Llanelli but am disabled which somewhat
restricts my getting about so, travel to do my research is limited.
I therefor turn to the various lists for initial help where and when
available.
My Interests in the Briton Ferry area are actually small as far as I know
at
this time.
I have a Daniel JENKINS b 1838 in Ystradgynlais who lived in a boarding
house or hotel in BF after splitting from his family, he had grown up with
that family in Cwmafon by Port Talbot but when his parents decided to
return
to the Swansea valley he went his own way.
I would be grateful if someone could find him on the 1861 census for BF.
Well there's my intro and first lookup request.
Thanks
God Bless
John Jones
