Thank you very much Bryn, you do not know how much I have needed that
information. I was so excited to see a reply this morning, I have been
looking for months (all in the wrong direction of course), my OPC in
Cornwall was the one that saved the day and made the suggestion that they
may have married in Halkyn, me I just kept thinking they had to be married
in Cornwall before they went to Wales, but she suggested that very often a
betrothed would join their intended partner in the new place , marry there
rather than they return home for the purpose. In this day and age it would
be called, saving the oldies from paying for a Wedding.(grin).
Thanks once again Bryn, stay safe ...........rgds Coral Qld Aus

Yes, they married at Halkyn on 26 Feb 1825. He was described as son of
Joseph [a lead miner] and Catherine [nee Jones] and his bride Catherine as
the daughter of Nathaniel Holman [lead miner] and Johannah [nee Northway].
At the baptism of the first of the two children Jonathan is described as a
lead miner, and secondly as an engineer.
Some years ago I did much research on the lead-mining industry in Halkyn
and
can tell you that a large number of Cornishmen arrived at Halkyn in the
early 1820s having been invited by the mineowners to reorganise the whole
of
the operations there. There is no further evidence of this family in the
district.
Hope this helps,
Bryn Ellis
