Hi JoAnn,
My husband descendants from the William Ellis Jones who joined the
"Mormon" Church, which is a common nickname for The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints because of the Book of Mormon. Anyway, I
have his siblings as:
Paul Jones 1803
John Jones 1806
Ann 1809
John 1812
Mary 1815
William Ellis Jones 6 Apr 1817
Elizabeth 1821
Elizabeth 1823
Thomas 30 Apr 1829
Their parents were John Jones and Catherine Ellis from Hawarden, Flint,
Wales and the children were said to be born at Buckley Mountain,
Flintshire, Wales. I haven't verified that though. John Jones and
Catherine Ellis were married 15 Feb. 1804, but I don't know where.
John Jones' parents were John Jones (abt 1758-?) and Ann Whelden (abt
1762-?), but I don't know who the other children were. Your Edward might
fit in that family? That John Jones born in about 1758 was the son of
yet another John Jones and Mary.
William Ellis Jones converted to the LDS faith in 1841, and he was the
one the above information was recorded by sometime between 1861 and
August 1898 when he died in Gunlock, Washington, Utah.
From the journal of William Ellis Jones: Retrospective account of
life. Journal entries from June 28, 1861 to May 22, 1896. Joined
Independents at age seventeen. Joined Wesleyan Methodists. Worked in
colliery, and worked under ground about 3 years. Filled appointments in
preaching. Joined Mormon Church, 1841. Voyage across Atlantic, up
Mississippi River to Nauvoo. Sailed Feb. 5, 1842 on ship "Hope" from
Great Britain to New Orleans. Made bricks in 1845. Departure from
Nauvoo and Illinois in poverty, 1846. "Had no team nor even a cow the
last cow I had was shot by a mobacrat." Hardship and sickness. Return
to Missouri, Death of wife, 1855. Marriage to widow Vaughan, 1856.
Several moves to Nebraska.
Finally trek to Utah, 1861.
If anyone else is researching this line of Jones, I would love to hear
from you.
Thanks,
Shanna Jones

Hi JoAnn,
I don't know the death place of Edward, but in researching My Joneses from this area I
discovered that a Jones family became mormans and immigrated to the US. If Edwards
descendents became mormons there is an excellent chance of finding his records through the
LDS.
