This is in reply to Barbara Dalton who posted a message about
Williams Family on the Flintshire list on 2 August 2005, but others may
be interested or able to help
The Williams connection we are researching does not go back as
far as you are asking about. Have you come across these WILLIAMS
individuals in your research?
Maria WILLIAMS was 26 years old and resided on Queen Street in
Chester when she married Japheth HUGHES 3 December 1852 at the
Independent Church in Chester. Her father Henry WILLIAMS was listed as a
butcher. One of the witnesses to the marriage was an Eliza WILLIAMS.
Other research indicates Maria (also spelled Mariah) was born in May 1829
in Wales. Have not yet been successful in finding Maria, Japheth, Henry,
or Eliza on the 1851 census.
Maria WILLIAMS and Japheth HUGHES had a son born in Chester in
1853. Shortly thereafter they sailed to the United States and settled in
Ohio, in the Columbus area. With the family on the 1870 census was a
Peter WILLIAMS, born in Wales about 1829, and an Eliza WILLIAMS, born in
Wales about 1831. Do not yet know how these two individuals are related
to Maria. Might Peter be one of her brothers?
Would be interested in corresponding with anyone who may have
connections to these WILLIAMS individuals or has come across them in
research on their WILLIAMS lines.
